Prez Rosenberg inspired by motion picture

In a statement issued Monday, Mockalester College president Brian Rosenberg has decided to change the Mockalester motto to “Look beyond the image of what is, consider the possibilities of what can be,” a key motto used in the new film Mona Lisa Smile. “I was just so inspired by the story,” stated the president, “The way that woman turned around the lives of her students really showed me what a college educator should be. I haven’t seen education like that since Dead Poets Society.”
Rosenberg has also planned a workshop for J-term in which Mockalester professors will watch the film in order to grow as educators. “When I witnessed the techniques of Julia Roberts in that film, I realized what we were missing here at Mockalester. Professors need to help their students fight an oppressive society so they can succeed in life.” A few professors have expressed opinions against that of Rosenberg. Professor of English Robert Warde stated, “I think he’s lost his mind. That movie sucks. He was the same way after he saw Terminator 3, going on about how we all had to be cautious with machines.”
Religious studies professor Jim Laine weighed in on the issue, “I don’t think Rosenberg understands that the movie was set in 1953. He was really hypnotized by the scene where they hit each other with pillows.” What implications this move has for the Mockalester community, none can be sure. According to Rosenberg, “If we all followed the example of inspiring movies, we’d get a lot father in the world. I mean, have you seen Remember the Titans? No other film offered more insight on football and harmony between races. This change will surely benefit Mockalester.”
