Search committee still searching...
The Presidential Search Committee met Saturday March 29 in the Campus Center, narrowing the number of candidates to fill the job of outgoing president Mike McPherson. The remaining candidates will be sent invitations to interview with committee members in mid-April.
Along with invitations, "candidates will receive items intended to introduce them to the Macalester community," said committee member Alexander Hill '57. He added that the items include the March 28 issue of The Mac Weekly.
The timing of last weekend's meeting could indicate that the committee is behind schedule. According to a January 29 release from committee chair David Randheim '64, this meeting was scheduled to take place in "mid-March."
However, Randheim said Monday the committee is moving along as planned, "I am pleased that we are keeping on schedule." He said the committee hopes to bring finalists to campus before the end of the academic year in May, when McPherson will resign.
Committee members were unable to disclose further information because of the need to protect the candidates' confidentiality.
Professors plan teach-in for next week
