Men's Baseball:

4–12, 0–2 MIAC

Macalester opened its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) league play April 2 with a pair of losses to St. John's, 7–6 (8 innings) and 8–4.

The Scots were led through the first 14 games of the season by Joel Brettingen '04 and Mike Merrill '05, who batted .426 and .419 respectively. Veteran Scott Bell '03 has also been playing well, hitting .372 with eight stolen bases. Congratulate them if you happen to run in to them sometime soon!

This weekend the Scots will play two doubleheaders. On Saturday April 5 the Scots will take on St. Mary's in Winona, and on Sunday April 6 they will face Grinnell at home.
 

Men's Tennis:

3–10, 1–3 MIAC

Macalester topped visiting Grinnell 5–2 March 29, winning five of the six singles matches to improve to 3–10 on the season.

The Scots took five singles matches and a doubles match in their win over Grinnell. Singles winners were Peter Loken '03 at No. 2, David Yesilevskiy '03 at No. 3, Nick Werth '06 at No. 4, Spencer Edelman '06 at No. 5 and Eric Brandt '05 at No. 6. Werth and Josh Fogt '03 played for a No. 3 doubles victory.

Macalester plays Winona State at home today and MIAC rival Concordia Saturday April 6, also at home.
 

Women's Tennis:

2–6, 0–3 MIAC

Away from competition for three weeks, the Macalester women's tennis team resumed their spring season, splitting a pair of non-conference home matches. The Scots lost 7–2 to St. Cloud State on March 28 but were victorious against Minnesota-Morris, on March 30, winning 7–2 and picking up their second victory of the season.

Against St. Cloud State, the Scots gained wins from Sarah Crangle '04 at No. 2 singles and from the No. 3 doubles team of Robyn Schindeldecker '06 and Sayoko Nakamura '06.

Macalester picked up four wins in singles play Sunday against Minnesota-Morris, receiving victories from Melissa Lavasani '03 at No. 1, Erin Case '04 at No. 3, Schindeldecker at No. 5 and Nakamura at No. 6. The Scots also won all three of their doubles matches.

The Scots play Concordia-Moorhead at home Saturday April 5. This is is another MIAC match, so come out and show your support for the team!
