Elvi Brynolfson, an assistant in the Physical Plant, was presented with the Staff Outstanding Service Award for 2002 at the spring Faculty-Staff Dinner on April 6. The award citation, which President McPherson read at the event, says: “As an assistant in the Physical Plant Department for the past 10 years, Elvi has provided unsurpassed service to students, staff and faculty. As anyone who has ever tried to get a key or I.D. card made or reserve a van for a field trip knows, Elvi is the person to see. Beyond her specific duties, Elvi always contributes to the other work in the Physical Plant Department by volunteering to help with needed tasks. She is considered the ultimate team player who has the confidence and admiration of her colleagues. Outside the department, Elvi has been active on the Staff Advisory Council, MACASE and Affirmative Action Committee. She has contributed her enthusiasm, insights and willingness to help others to all these groups. A 1968 graduate of Macalester, Elvi has been serving the college in many ways for more than three decades. For all these reasons, Elvi is deserving of the Staff Outstanding Service Award for 2002.”
