WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
 The Macalester women’s volleyball team won the Augsburg Invitational tournament in Minneapolis last Saturday after sweeping all four of its matches. On Friday, the Scots swept through Augsburg and St. Scholastica in straight games, and kicked off Saturday with a four game win over University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire.
 In the championship match, Macalester faced Wisconsin-Stout. Despite losing the first game 26-30, the Scots won the next three 30-24, 30-20 and 30-16, taking the team record to 5-3. Seniors Carley Bomstad and Sarah Graves were named to the All-Tournament team.
 This week the team flew to Claremont, Cal. for the Pacific Coast Classic taking place this weekend at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
 MEN’S GOLF
 The Macalester men’s golf team began the season with a sixth place finish at the SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational Tournament in Brookings, S.D. last weekend. The team’s solid performance came against a field dominated by Division II teams from the North Central Conference, with Minnesota State University-Mankato taking the team title. Kramer Lawson ’05 led the Scots with a 36-hole score of 154, good for 10th place out of the 51 competitors at the Jackrabbit. Eric Kelsey ’07 and Zack Youmans ’05 shot 164 each for the team.
 WOMEN’S GOLF
 The Macalester women’s golf team began the season with a seventh place finish at the Division II-dominated SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational. Kylie Thomson ’07 and Grace Arnold ’07 led the Scots with 36-hole scores of 205 and 208, respectively. “This is a brand new team and it was a good way to start the season,” said Coach Martha Nause. “We showed a lot of improvement on the second day.”
 FOOTBALL
 Macalester opened its season last weekend losing 46-19 at Beloit. The Scots played well in the first half of the game, leading 19-7 at halftime. Unfortunately, they then went on to give up six touchdowns in the second half. The team was led by quarterback Adam Denny ’04, who threw two touchdown passes and ran in another touchdown.
