Cross Country

Macalester’s cross country runners had a successful outing at the Grinnell College Invitational with the women’s team coming in second and the men finishing third on Saturday at Grinnell.

Bo Rydze ’05 had an outstanding run, clocking 26:17 on the 8K course. Eric Olson ’05 and Roscoe Sopiwnik ’06 also ran the course in under 27 minutes, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.

Koby Hagen ’06 and Renee Schaeffer ’04, who placed seventh and eighth, led the women’s team. Another four Macalester runners placed in the top 17.
 

Volleyball

Gustavus Adolphus’s volleyball team ended Macalester’s 10-game winning streak with a 3-2 home victory over the Scots. It was Macalester’s longest win streak since 1982. The loss dropped the Scots to 1-1 in MIAC play this season. Late on Wednesday, Concordia spoiled Macalester’s home opener, winning 3-1.
