A kup of Kofi anyone?

A new and kreative dessert served up at Kafé Mac? Perhaps a 40-year old piece of male sports equipment dug out from the bowels of the Equipment Room’s lost and found?

Actually, the Kofi Kup is a new kompetition in the Athletic Department to see which Macalester varsity athletic team kan show the most spirit and support toward another team.

The Kofi Kup is the brainchild of the SAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Kouncil), an organization composed of athletes from across the varsity spectrum (and one klub Frisbee player). It is looking for ways to encourage more enthusiasm for athletics kampus-wide.

The idea behind the Kup is to encourage athletic teams to support each other throughout their kompetitive season. The fall Kup kompetition is well underway, and results have been noticeable. Signs and posters litter the hallways and locker rooms, and more than one batch of baked goods has krossed hands.

This fall the assignments are as follows: women’s volleyball and women’s soccer are paired up together, men’s kross kountry has men’s and women’s golf, women’s kross kountry has men’s soccer, men’s soccer has football and football has men’s kross kountry.

The upcoming winter pairings will be as follows: the women’s basketball team is paired up with ko-ed swimming, women’s indoor track is paired up with kross-kountry skiing and men’s indoor track is paired with men’s basketball.

So don’t be surprised if you see a little extra lovin’ in the Athletic Department this year, as a new tradition begins at Macalester. The Kofi Kup will be koveted by Scots for years to kome.
