The Scots took on the Regents of Rockford, Ill. Friday Nov. 1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Metrodome Classic. Though the Scots put up 17 points in the first quarter, the Regents, on the back of a strong running game, rallied in the second half to squeeze by the Scots, handing them their fourth loss in as many weeks.

The Scots got on the board just five minutes into the contest on an eight play, 85-yard drive capped off by a 39-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Adam Denny '04 to running back David Krueger '04. Just 35 seconds later, Krueger found the endzone again after a two play, 57-yard drive highlighted by a 54-yard pass from Denny to tight end Adam Heathcote '04. The drive started when the Scots recovered a squibbed kick-off that bounced off a Rockford player's foot on their own 43-yard line.

Rockford was quick to answer, however, going 66 yards exclusively on the ground in nine plays on the ensuing series. Running back Marcus Howard scampered into the endzone from 13 yards out to cut the Scots' lead 14–7.

The Scots continued to be productive on offense as they took they ball 63 yards the other way. On the drive, running back Matt Munson '04 had a rush and a reception for 16 yards apiece while receiver Adam Johnson '03 pulled in a 60-yard pass from Denny. Despite being within four yards of the goal line, the Scots had to settle for a 21-yard field goal from Andrew Connet '06, which made the score 17–7 at the end of the first quarter.

The scoring continued on the first drive of the second quarter as Rockford completed two long passes to get into the endzone for the second time on a 29-yard pass from quarterback Pat Zimmerman to receiver Anthony Risa. The kick after failed and the score stood at 17–13 in favor of the Scots.

On their second offensive series of the second half the Scots increased their lead by seven as Denny hit Steven Schuab '06 on a 53-yard bomb for his first touch reception of the season. Unfortunately, the defense could not stop Rockford's rushing game, and the Regents answered with a 4-yard touchdown run from Howard. His second score of the game made the score 24–19.

The third quarter ended with the Scots riding on the five-point cushion, but the Regents could not be stopped on the opening drive on the final quarter. Howard continued to run all over the defense to bring the ball into Scots territory where Zimmerman hit Derek Anderson from 38 yards to give the Regents a 25–24 lead. The Regents then used their running game to run time off the clock; the Scots offense was unable to reproduce their success of the first three quarters. As the final seconds ticked off the clock, the shocked Scots found themselves on the losing sideline for the fifth time this season and the fourth time in as many weeks.

Denny finished the game with 16 completions in 32 attempts, for 316 yards. Munson rushed for 89 yards on 16 attempts while Krueger had 43 on nine attempts. Johnson pulled in four catches for 110 yards while Krueger had seven grabs for 79 yards. Heathcote and Schuab each had one catch for 54 and 53 yards respectively.

On defense, defensive end Andrew Porter '03 and linebacker Clark Boyesen '03 each had 14 tackles. Porter had three tackles for loss, including his 14th quarterback sack of the season.

Rockford was led by Howard, who ran 39 times for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

The Scots take on Carleton this Saturday, Nov. 9 in the final game of the season. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. in Northfield.
