Tetherball and pogs are two of the funniest words ever and any Web site that has both, well, goodness me. Let us explain. On the Internet, there is a new Web site dedicated to creative writing, mostly catering to college students. Haypenny.com is a place where anyone can post his/her own work or just take a break from studying to be amused.

Because it is a relatively new site, their archive is small and there are not that many stories/essays available for reading. However, the stories/essays they do have are painfully funny. Some of this week's stories include: The Rich Japanese Businessman Exchange Program is a Complete Hoax,What am I going to do with all my pogs and Fact or Foe. The editor's commentary throughout the Web site is R-rated.

Sometimes the humor does border on overly sexual and politically incorrect, which is probably contrary to many Macalester students'beliefs. But if you're just looking to escape homework and reality, this Web site offers a nice break. Unfortunately, we are not as witty as this Web site, so in order to convince you that this Web site is worth going to, here are some quotes.

Warning, don't take any big swallows of your drink before reading these; we are not responsible for the consequences.

A highlight from Tony Blake's story: "And that's the hardest thing about business: putting all your hopes and dreams on the line Épouring yourself into a twelve-foot tall wooden Irish tiger who loves tetherball"and not knowing whether you'll end up a success or a failure.

And then from Deckie Holmes: Scenario One "Pogs Replace Gasoline""Going home, running home, down to Pog Alley where I was born."[Note:Rod Stewart would not actually be required to change the lyrics of his hit song, "Gasoline Alley"but I like to think that he would anyway.]

And even better from Chad Roberts: "Make no response to anything the victim says while under the demon's control. Pray for the spiritual assistance of the Holy Spirit and the physical assistance of the holy angels but say absolutely nothing to the demon."

If this concise article doesn't convince, go to the Web site yourself. It is well worth it, according to us at least. Our departing advice is, "Go now, it's too funny to wait. "
