and the University of Minnesota will host a gathering of scholars and
creative writers this weekend for the second annual African American Studies
Conference. In addition to presentations by faculty members from both
institutions, the highlights of the conference will include an address
by noted historian, political scientist and human rights activist Manning
Marable and a lecture by poet and cultural critic Quincy Troupe. Macalester's Strategic Directions Highlighted By Jeff Jones Saying Macalester should unify
behind an identity of "educational excellence," the Presidential
Committee on Strategic Directions has released for public comment a draft
of its report to the campus community. The recommendations in the report
