Class puts modern spin on Shakespeare

By Johanna Jones

On April 26-29, Macalester will be presenting Hamlet, directed by Sears Eldredge and starring Jacques Roy '01 as Hamlet and Stephen Pelinski as Claudius. The performance times are 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and free for Macalester students, faculty and staff (with a current ID). Professor Hirsch to deliver inaugural lecture

Harry N. Hirsch, Macalester College's new G. Theodore Mitau Professor of the Social Sciences, will deliver an inaugural lecture at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, in the John B. Davis Lecture Hall of the Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center. The speech, "The Politics of Exile and Voice," is free and open to the public. Hirsch will examine the relationship between a scholar's life and his or her ideas. He will look at the issue in relation to the life of Felix Frankfurter Mitau, who served as a U.S. Supreme Court justice from 1939-1962, and others. Call 651-696-6290 for information.
