be a healthy thinker - change your thoughts and change your life

Just as eating healthy and being more active are important to your health and well-being, so too is healthy thinking.  We believe until you take care of yourself, you cannot be the best you can be to others or reach your personal goals.  Starting in June, take advantage of many opportunities to help you build your toolbox of skills and different ways to feel in control of your life, work, family, home and everything in between.

in case you missed us at chautauqua

This year's Chautauqua offered several opportunities for staff and faculty to enhance their well-being. In case you missed any of these events or you want more information to share with your family, we have included some resources below.

The Latest in Weight Loss Research

Our Wellness Coach, Kelly Fang, discussed some of the best and worst diets, and whether any of the latest trends, such as intermittent fasting and going gluten-free are getting results.  You can view or download a copy of the presentation by clicking on the link above.

Let's Get Cookin'

Executive Chef Mike Shannon from Cooks of Crocus Hill and our Wellness Coach Kelly Fang delighted our taste buds with a sampling of oils, vinegars and salts.  They followed it up with a demonstration and tasting of a delicious Quinoa Primavera recipe.  To try it at home with your family, visit our Recipe Blog below for a copy.

The Medicine of Mindfulness

Our most highly attended event during Chautauqua was an experiential introduction to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, facilitated by Judith Lies, LMFT, founder of HEARTWOOD Mindfulness Practice Center in Minneapolis.  To learn more about the 8-week MBSR classes that Judith offers, visit her website at SeedsofMindfulness.com  The text for her class is Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain and Illness, by Jon Kabat-Zin.  However, Judith says it is best used in the context of the class.
