English Professor James Dawes shares his experience about interviewing Japanese war criminals, who were responsible for some of the greatest atrocities of the 20th century. "We never get the chance to talk to the perpetrators," says Dawes, who wrote That the World May Know: Bearing Witness to Atrocity. "They agreed to talk to me because they're sorry." Margaret Wallin Marvin Memorialized by Macalester College November 20, 2009 - St. Paul, Minn. - Macalester College has dedicated Marvin Plaza, named for Margaret Wallin Marvin, of Warroad, Minn. Marvin graduated from Macalester in 1939. Two of her grandchildren (Christine Marvin ’03 and Angela Marvin ’09) are also are alumni. $400,000 Scholarship Fund Created for Local Students to Attend Macalester College St. Paul, Minn. Macalester Student wins Mario Savio Young Activist Award- St. Paul, Minn. October 28, 2009 - Timothy DenHerder-Thomas, a 22-year-old senior at Macalester College, has been awarded the Mario Savio Young Activist Award for his work in tackling the problems of climate change and environmental justice. As part of the award, DenHerder-Thomas received $6,000, half for his project and half to use as he wishes. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 27, in California. more»
