Macalester Women’s Basketball Coach Resigns

St. Paul, Minn. - Macalester College’s Women’s Basketball Coach, Jeannine Ruh, has submitted her resignation effective July 31, 2005.  She will leave coaching and return to her hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

Athletic Director Irv Cross said her replacement will be named as soon as possible.  “We have a good roster coming into the 2005-2006 season. We remain committed to the women’s basketball program for the upcoming season and beyond.  These athletes deserve our support and appreciation.”

Last December, because of a low number of players on the roster, the remainder of the varsity women’s basketball season was cancelled.  The women's basketball team will continue as a varsity sport by playing half a conference schedule supplemented with non-conference games in 2005-2006 and then resuming a full conference schedule in 2006-2007.

Macalester is a private, national liberal arts college with a full-time enrollment of 1,845 students. Macalester is nationally recognized for its long-standing commitment to academic excellence, internationalism, diversity and civic engagement.
