Lysistrata

St. Paul, Minn. – Macalester College Theater and Dance Department presents “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes, in the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center Main Stage Theater, 1600 Grand Ave., St. Paul, Minn. Tickets are $7 general admission and $5 for seniors and groups.  Performances are Friday and Sat.urday, Nov. 9 and 10, and Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 15-17 at 7:30 p.m.  There is also a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Nov. 11.  Macalester Visiting Instructor Cheryl Moore Brinkley directs.

In this ancient Greek comedy, Athenian women, led by Lysistrata and fed up with the Peloponnesian War, take matters into their own hands by refusing all relations with their men, until the men stop the War. Comic license is granted for outrageous antics on the Macalester main stage in the name of Peace.

Cheryl Moore Brinkley has directed “An Experiment With an Air Pump” and “Twelfth Night” at Macalester and served as vocal coach for several productions including “Mother Courage and Her Children” and “Tongue of a Bird.” A professional actor for 30 years, she was a member of the 1993 Guthrie acting company. Brinkley also teaches acting and voice classes at Brave New Institute and Theatre in the Round, both in Minneapolis
