The Ninth Annual American Studies Conference at Macalester

Who: Harriet A. Washington, journalist, editor, and bioethicist, will give the keynote address “American Apartheid: Medicine, Research and the Historical Prism of Race.”  She is the author of Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present.
                            
What: The Ninth Annual American Studies Conference, “Racism in the Name of Science.” The conference continues Saturday, March 1 with a panel discussion of local experts.
