Macalester College Receives $13.5 Million Gift to Support International Students– Macalester College today announced that it will receive a gift of $13.5 million from Philanthropist Shelby Moore Cullom Davis. Davis’s gift will provide scholarship support for international students and is the largest donation for this purpose in the college’s history. more»

Mellon Foundation Awards Macalester $1 Million for Curricular Innovation– Macalester College has received an award of $1 million from the Andrew W. Adam-Maliq Muro Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program - Adam-Maliq Muro '10 was recently honored during an event at Goldman Sachs in New York on April 11 that convened all of this year's 20 US/Canada Global Leaders for leadership development workshops and presentations by Ivan Seidenberg (Chairman and CEO of Verizon Communications) and Timothy Shriver (Chairman of Special Olympics).

The Goldman Sachs Foundation and the Institute of International Education (IIE) recently announced that 20 second-year students from leading United States and Canadian colleges have been named as 2008 Goldman Sachs Global Leaders, the third class of students in the United States and Canada to be so honored.

Since 2001, the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program (GSGLP), developed by The Goldman Sachs Foundation and IIE, has been a pioneer in identifying and developing some of the world's most promising future leaders. Students are selected through a rigorous competition on the bases of academic excellence and leadership potential.

Fulbright Teaching Assistantships - Christine Park '08 will graduate this May with a Psychology major. She received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in South Korea starting this coming fall. Here is her abstract: "As an English teaching assistant I hope to improve my students' language abilities and depth of knowledge of the United States. I plan on doing this by providing the students with entertaining, thought provoking and stimulating activities while remaining flexible and understanding. Likewise, I want to develop my language abilities in Korean and immerse myself in Korean culture to my utmost capability."
