Don Celender

Art History

Celender is a nationally known conceptual artist. He was honored with his 32nd solo exhibition at the O.K. Harris Gallery in New York. He has also exhibited at the Butlet Institute of American Art and the Center for Creative Photography. His book, Mortal Remains, has been reviewed by the Village Voice, Miami Herald and the San Francisco Chronicle. Celender's work has also been reviewed and profiled by numerous newspapers including The New York Times. His conceptual documentation, which spans 30 years of research, will be bound into a massive volume by Art Inc./Art Resources in New York.

Gabrielle Ellertson

Drawing

Ellertson's drawings were recently exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Tom Barry Fine Arts Gallery in Minneapolis. She was an artist in residence through the GEDOK program in Germany, where her work was shown in several European galleries. Ellertson received a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship in 1995 and 2000.

Gary Erickson

Ceramics

Erickson's ceramic sculpture "Dualidad" is part of the permanent collection of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. His organic-abstract sculpture was recently exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Southwest School of Art and Craft in San Antonio, Texas and at Gallery 101 in Melbourne, Australia. He was awarded a 1999 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Fellowship and a 1999 McKnight Artists Fellowship for Ceramic Artists. Erickson has been featured in articles in Ceramics Monthly and in Ceramics: Art and Perception.

Ruthann Godollei

Two-dimensional Design/Printmaking/Women in Art

Godollei serves as Macalester's dean of fine arts. She teaches printmaking, 2-D design and a course on women in art. Her monoprints on domestic violence were featured in the recent Minnesota Artist's Exhibition Program at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts as well as at the Minnesota National Print Biennial and at the Rutgers National Works on/of Paper exhibit in New Jersey. She was also recently the featured artist for Aspekt, a Slovak feminist art and culture journal published in Bratislava.

Mary Hark

Fibers/Papermaking

Hark specializes in fibers and papermaking. She has written for the national journal Hand Papermaking. Her work was recently exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Minnesota Museum of Art, the Artemisia Gallery in Chicago, the Minnesota Center for the Book Arts and the Penland School of Arts and Crafts in North Carolina. Hark recently completed a commissioned piece for the Minnesota Children's Museum.

Mayra Rodriguez

Art History/Gothic Architecture

Rodriguez teaches courses in art history, Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo art. Her research specialty is Gothic architecture.

Stan Sears

Sculpture/3-D Design

Sears teaches courses in sculpture and 3-D design. His professional career includes commissioned public sculpture and the design of urban spaces throughout the U.S. For example, he

and collaborative partner, Andrea Myklebust, recently designed several mosaic floor designs for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as well as the Hubert H. Humphrey terminal. They also recently completed a 66-foot-tall public sculpture for the city of Hamilton, Ohio. In addition, they collaborated on a central pedestrian plaza and fountain in Iowa City, Iowa and have been commissioned to do projects for the Hennepin County Government Center and the Mayo Clinic.

Chris Willcox

Painting/Drawing /Murals

Willcox is a mural artist. She recently designed a 200-foot Rainforest mural for the Africa Exhibit of the Metropolitan Toronto Zoo. She teaches courses and specializes in painting and drawing. Willcox is also interested in creating work that merges natural science and art.
