Terry Boychuk

Sociology Department
Boychuk has studied hospitals and health policies in the U.S. and Canada. He is the author of The Making and Meaning of Hospital Policy in the United States and Canada, a comparative history of American and Canadian health policy that explains why movements for national health insurance have failed in the U.S. and flourished in Canada. He is currently researching the historical tranformation of American philanthropy in the 19th and 290th centuries.
Martin Gunderson
Ethics/Managed Care Systems/Assisted Suicides
Philosophy Department
Gunderson is an expert in bio-medical ethics, particularly concerning health care justice and informed consent. He can also discuss managed care systems in Minnesota as well as right-to-die issues such as doctor-assisted suicides. He is the co-author of AIDS: Testing and Privacy. He wrote "A Right to Suicide Does Not Entail a Right to Assisted Death" for the Journal of Medical Ethics. He is also writing a book on Stoicism and suicide. In addition, Gunderson is an attorney specializing in the philosophy of law.
