Karl Egge

Economics Department
Egge is an expert in forensic economics, which deals with economic implications in court cases. He also specializes in finance, small business and entrepreneurship. Egge recently received Macalester's Thomas Jefferson Award for lifetime teaching excellence, research and service to the college.
Martin Gunderson
Philosophy of Law
Philosophy Department
Gunderson is an attorney who is knowledgeable about the philosophy of law. He also specializes in bio-medical ethics, particularly concerning health care justice and informed consent. In addition, he can discuss managed care systems in Minnesota as well as the issue of doctor-assisted suicides. He is the co-author of AIDS: Testing and Privacy. He also wrote "A Right to Suicide Does Not Entail a Right to Assisted Death" for the Journal of Medical Ethics. He is writing a book on Stoicism and suicide.
Weiwen Miao
Statistical Evidence in Legal Cases

Miao has published several articles on statistics, including the use of statistical evidence in legal decisions. She leads the department's statistics program. In addition, she has worked as a statistical consultant for Eli Lilly.
Norm Rosenberg
American Legal System
History Department
Rosenberg is an expert in legal culture and history with an emphasis on First Amendment issues and post-structural history. He heads the college's Legal Studies Program and is on the editorial board of Legal Studies Forum. He is writing an essay on 20th century legal culture and is working on a book called The Reconstruction of Free-Speech Discourse, 1940-1964. He specializes in 20th century U.S. history and is the co-author of several books including In Our Time: America Since 1945.
