New Charts

Issues with CMJ have been resolved, and our most current chart can be found here.

Many thanks to all those who applied for Genre Director positions for the spring semester. More info on spring planning is coming soon.

Our engineer will pay us a visit within the next week to complete webcasting preparations. Again, streams and info will be posted as soon as they are available.

Stay tuned, and be sure to check out our message board once and a while. It is great but sadly underutilized resource for spreading the word about anything and everything WMCN.

Charts and Apps...

It appears that our CMJ status was expired without our knowledge. As such our charts were not being published despite repeated submissions.

New charts will be posted later this week, and the problem is resolved for the foreseeable future.

On-campus webcasting work will continue this weekend. A stream will be posted as soon as it is available.

Only a few weeks to go this semester, keep listening!

STUDENT JOBS WITH WMCN! Applications for Genre Directors are due today! Pick one up at the station door. We are especially looking for people to help out in promotions. If you are interested in getting involved with WMCN and the Twin Cities music scene, perhaps even scoring some tickets in the process, please apply! WMCN will resume its regular broadcast schedule 8AM tomorrow morning. Thank you for your patience as our staff and djs enjoyed a much deserved Thanksgiving weekend.

Charts through 11/5 are now posted. We have had some technical issues submitting our CMJ charts recently, and the newest chart available will be always posted.

Applications for spring semester WMCN Genre Directors are available at the station door. (30 Mac Basement)

WMCN will be going off the air Wednesday night for Thanksgiving break, and resuming on Monday November 29th with the 8am show.

At last!

A new look and lots of news to report...

Website overhaul will be completed early this week. Most pages have been updated, though there are many new features to come.

This past Saturday we began work on the on campus phase of webcasting. Once completeled, any network computer on the Macalester College campus will be able to stream WMCN live!

The new server and streaming service work perfectly, but rewiring that requires a visit from our pro bono engineer will be required before we may set up the stream permanently.

More to come on this exciting development very soon.

WMCN currently is accepting applications for Spring Semester music directors and the 2005-2006 General Manager.

A note of interest, First Avenue has been going through some turbulent times..

First Avenue has been a major player in the Twin Cities music scene, as well as a valued friend of WMCN for some time. We hope for the best.

Congratulations to Simone Speers, WMCN's DJ of the Month for October!

For her fine contributions to WMCN Simone will recieve a $25 gift certificate to Cheapo and worthy press for her show.

Be sure to tune in to "Via Synthetica," Fridays 2-4pm only on WMCN.

WMCN will be going off the air from 4am Thursday, October 28th to 8am Monday, Novemember 1st due to Macalester College's Fall break. WMCN is entirely student run, and as much as we would like to remain on the air such a large number of students will be away it would be impossible to find enough subs. Be sure to tune in until then, and we'll be back before you know it.

Thank you for patience with random anomalies as we have worked to clean up the 'ol website recently. Thankfully its days are numbered. We are currently in negotiations to obtain a server computer and the budget necessary to begin the first phase of webcasting.

With a little luck we will begin a limited webcast through the Macalester College network in a few weeks.

08.29.04 :: Application is here!

Orientation and move in are fast approaching and we are delighted to have a working DJ application available online.

At the moment the code remains a bit crude, so be careful to check that you have filled it out completely, as it will not remind you if you miss something. As always, more and better updates to come.

Keep checking back for content updates, as well as a possible move for our discussion group. We are considering moving our discussions to googlegroups or a similar service that would allow visitors to comment on our "news blog"

During the next two to three days WMCN will be testing its online application! This is great news for all as it should streamline the application process once school has started.
