Summer and Beyond

At 2am May 3rd, WMCN went off the air for the semester. WMCN is entirely student run, and a lack of personel during the summer makes broadcasting difficult. Administrative and security concerns during this time have convinced Macalester College not to allow WMCN to broadcast during the summer break.

Nevertheless, there will be plenty going on in the coming months. We have a great new staff for next year, with Linnea Ericsson taking over as General Manager, Legacy Russel as Program Manager and Nick Malecek returning as Office Manager/Webmaster. More details on genre directors and promotions/development staff in the the weeks to come.

This was a year of unprecedented change for WMCN, with our first benefit concert, the debut of webcasting and a major overhaul of station operations and the website. Despite all this progress, the best it still to come. WMCN will be looking into major rennovations for our broadcasting space and offices, adding concerts and WMCN sponsored events and best of all adding a digital library to supplement our decades of lps and cds.

WMCN would like to extend sincere thanks to all those who made this year possible, especially outgoing station GM Megan Sheehan, and to all our listers. We look forward to hearing from you in the fall!

If for any reason you would like to contact station management during the summer break, feel free to use the general station email address.
