Throw Down

First off, thanks to all those who applied for Fall 2006 staff positions. A secret convocation will determine your fate within the next 48 hours. Ok maybe not, we are just looking for hardworking souls that share our irrational dedication to the betterment of WMCN. We are not cool. Applicants will be informed of their selection by Tuesday.

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN

The gauntlet has been thrown. It's time for Macalester's annual battle royale for student media supremacy. Things will be settled kickball style, so bring your A-game to the field in front of Kagin Commons, Wednesday, May 3rd at 5:30PM. The MacWeekly makes a bunch of money off the books selling full page adds to Coca-Cola, so they will provide food and beverage afterwards. Let's hope they bring delicious Coke!

So all those updates promised: photo galleries, liner notes, calendars, etc. You're probably wondering wha happen? Well, several technical breakdowns and organizational changes have taken precedence, but as the semester winds down we will finally have the chance to make good.

As a first step, we present the first installment of our Local Spotlight feature!

WMCN does Austin

WMCN will be off the air for Macalester College's spring break. The last show of this week will be Saturday morning 12-2am, and the first show back will be 9-10am, Monday the 20th.

WMCN will also be performing regular maintenance during this time on our broadcast equipment.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Sophie Smith to the WMCN staff. Sophie was selected from several strong candidates, and the decision was not easy. Many thanks to all those who applied, and we will post more director openings toward the end of the semester. With most WMCN staff members graduating in the spring of 2007, we will need your help again!

Several WMCN staffers/djs are making the trek to the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX. Label and promotion contacts: If you'd like to meet up, please to drop us a line by Monday. We should have pictures and plenty of good stories; watch the blog later next week!
