Sabbatical Leave Travel
During the 2003-2004 academic year, Macalester College awarded me a sabbatical leave to work on a research project in Cyprus concerned with political monuments. In many ways, it was the most extraordinary year of my life. In addition to living in Cyprus all fall, I visited a number of other places, including Great Britain, Jordan, Santorini, and Greece. In the spring, 15 of my Macalester colleagues and I visited Istanbul, Turkey for three weeks with the Macalester Faculty Development International Seminar. As if all this travel and research were not exciting enough, I also spent an incredible week in Boston, MA at the Democratic National Convention with my parents.
