London

London was the first place I visited while on sabbatical leave, and it also one of the most fun. Literally fifteen minutes after dropping my suitcases, I was touring Parliament. In addition to trying to jam in trips to the many of the famous "big" sites, I also met with a number of Macalester students and other friends. I returned to the US via London and watched an enormous Abu Ghraib protest and anti-war rally in Trafalgar Square. Thus, both "ends" of my sabbatical leave visits were suffused with historic and contemporary politics in Great Britain. Click on one of the thumbnails below to see the larger image.
