Not only does the Green Line cut through the heart of Nicosia, but it literally also splits buildings in half. Here, a bar has been built into the half of a building that abuts the Green Line. The half of the building beyond the locked, shuttered, and glass wall behind me is in the U.N. Buffer Zone and therefore off-limits to the owners of the building. You can see stacks of industrial machinery behind me that are no longer used or even reachable by the owner. (Green Line, Cyprus)
