does the brain support object recognition and reading?
is one of the questions addressed by research conducted in Dr.
Darcy Burgund’s Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory. Research
in the lab employs a variety of methods, including divided-visual-field
presentations to investigate hemisphere asymmetries in visual
form recognition and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)
to examine the particular brain regions involved. In addition,
research is conducted with a range of participant populations,
including school-age children and literate and illiterate adults.
