How does the brain support object recognition and reading?

This is one of the questions addressed by research conducted in Dr. Darcy Burgund’s Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory. Research in the lab employs a variety of methods, including divided-visual-field presentations to investigate hemisphere asymmetries in visual form recognition and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine the particular brain regions involved. In addition, research is conducted with a range of participant populations, including school-age children and literate and illiterate adults.
