Responsibilities

As Library Director, I am primarily responsible for managing the overall library operations, but in 2005 Media Services was added to my area of responsibility.    I report to the Provost. We have a Library and Media Services advisory committee that meets during the academic year. In addition to overseeing Library and Media Services, I serve as liaison to American Studies.  I serve on the Scholarly Publishing committee which includes faculty representatives.  I also serve on EPAG (Educational Policy and Governance) committee.  In addition to my campus responsibilities, Macalester is a member of the CLIC consortium and I serve on the CLIC Board and this year serve as Vice-President.

Macalester is a member of the Oberlin Group, and I coordinate the annual statistics collection for the 80 participating libraries. My involvement with statistics also serving on the advisory committee for the NCES ALS advisory committee which I have done since joining the committee in June 2008.

I am actively engaged in Scholarly Communication issues and our campus task force became a campus committee during the 2008-09 academic year. See our website for more information on our campus program for scholarly communication.

• MacReads, the common reading program for first year students
• We continue to work on refine our instance of Macalester WorldCat Local  which went live on August 18, 2008.
• Digital Commons@Macalester - Implementing a digital repository for Honors Projects and increasing support for campus publications

Special Interests

Gardening is my recreational activity to relieve the stress of working with computers. The following links are my escapes when I need a break from computers that won't work, disk drive failures, and e-mail overload.
