Holbein: "The Dead Body of Christ in the tomb"

Hans Holbein the Younger (1497-1543). Painted portraits and religious works. This is his "The Dead Body of Christ in the Tomb," painted in 1521, a copy of which is hanging in Rogozhin's house. It depicts Christ in unusually naturalistic detail just as he has been removed from the cross. Rogozhin enjoys looking at it and Ippolit discusses the painting at great length in his "Explanation."
