Installing Mathematica


Windows                                                    

Launch the installer from your Novell Application Launcher (NAL) (Start -> Run, then type "nal" & press enter)
 

Upon launching, a window will appear. All information (user name, organization, and license number) is listed here.  Scroll down and copy this information, you will need to enter it in the appropriate fields when your run Mathematica.
 

NB: if you can’t connect to the Novell network from your dorm computer, please call the helpdesk at x6525 or email helpdesk@macalester.edu.  In addition, Mathematica is installed in the Math/CS labs and in the public labs in the Library and Humanities.


Macintosh OS 8-9                                            

Log into Novell, then connect to Academic, then SYS:
 

This will mount ACADEMIC_SYS on your desktop.  Open this volume, then navigate to MacApps, Mathematica 4.2.  Therein you will find the Mathematica installer and a text file containing all the installation information you need.

It is a disk image which contains Mathematica and a text file with all the installation information you will need.
