Chemistry 222 Spring 2007
Click here to open and fill out the course evaluation form. You have until Wednesday, May 2 to complete the form. Forms will go directly to the department coordinator, Barb Ekeberg. I will not see the forms until after I have submitted final grades. Thanks for your input!
Announcements: (5/4/07) (1) Lab notebooks (and Problem Sets 8 and 9) can be picked up from outside my office. The Experiment 5 results (see the link below) weren't terribly precise (to put it mildly). However, remember your triumph in Experiment 2! (The value on the label was conclusively low by ~6 mg Fe.) Your results and experiences, good and not so good, will help Rob Rossi and me as we teach Chem 222 lab next spring. (2) I will not be on campus this weekend, but I will be in e-mail contact. Please e-mail me if you have any questions as you study for the final. See you at 8:00 a.m. on Monday! (4/26/07): Here is the Test 4+Final Exam preview sheet. The final will be Monday, May 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in our normal classroom.
See the bottom of the page for old announcements.

Old Announcements:
(4/23/07): (1) We will meet Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in our normal classroom, Olin-Rice 301. There will be an opportunity to check out of your lab cabinets later that morning if you are ready to do so. (2) For #4 on Problem Set 9, you should find the total concentration of analyte (that is, [HA] + [A-]) in the aqueous phase. The expression (1-q) will tell you what the total mole fraction of analyte in the aqueous phase is. You do not need to compute [HA]aq and [A-]aq separately. Thanks to Elissa for this clarification! (3) Kara Manke will be available to help with Problem Set 9 tomorrow night from 6-8 p.m.
(4/16/07) We will be meeting this Thursday (4/19) in Olin-Rice 250 starting at 8:30 a.m. Also, be sure to sign up for a two-hour time slot to make your GC measurements for Experiment 5.
(3/30/07) (1) Here is the Test 3 Preview Sheet. The test is this coming Thursday, starting at 8:30 a.m., in Olin-Rice 250. (2) The Chem 222 grader, Kara Manke, will be available to help with questions on Problem Set 7 this Sunday from 5-7 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Olin-Rice. Have a good weekend!
(3/2/07): Here is the Test 2 preview sheet. Test 2 will be on March 8, in Olin-Rice 250, starting at 8:30 a.m.
(2/12/07): Here is the Test 1 Preview Sheet. Remember that we will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday in Olin-Rice 250 for the exam.
(2/7/07): Note that #4 on Problem Set 3 has been revised to account for changes made in the 7th edition of Harris. Thanks to Brian for pointing this out! You can link to the revised problem set below, or wait to get a copy in lab tomorrow.
(1/26/07): (1) I have finally created and updated the course web page. I will e-mail anytime there is a (significant) update to the page. (2) Remember that Kara Manke will be available to help with Problem Set 1 on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Olin-Rice.
