Old Announcements:

The chemistry computer lab will be open (for access to the computers) on the following schedule:

Sundays: 1-10pm
Monday-Thursday: 8am-5pm and 7-10pm
Fridays: 8am-5pm
Saturdays: Closed

(9/20/09): Hi everyone,

I've graded your notebooks for Experiment 1, and will hand them back in class tomorrow. Most lab teams earned all the points (20/20). The only thing I took points off for was errors in the net ionic equations. However, there were some notebook issues:

(1) A majority of lab teams did not number and date every page. I consider this to be a big issue! (Come to class tomorrow for why I think this is important.)
(2) A majority could have described their procedure in somewhat greater detail.
(3) Some groups could have provided more detailed observations.
(4) The expectations for the "Conclusion" for Experiment 1 are admittedly unclear. For future wet labs, I will reiterate and/or clarify what the lab manual and my notebook guidelines has to say on this point.

I didn't take any points off for notebook deficiencies this time, but I will for your next wet lab! And we will indeed be back in Olin-Rice 380 this Thursday.

(9/30/09): Here is the Test 1 Preview Sheet.  Please remember that Test 1 will be Friday, October 2, starting at 8:00 a.m.

(10/17/09): Here is the Test 2 Preview Sheet.  Please remember that Test 2will be Friday, October 23, starting at 8:00 a.m.

(11/16/09) Here is the Test 3 Preview Sheet. The test will be on Thursday, November 19 (during the lab time slot) from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in OR 301.
