ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADING
A weekly schedule
of assignments will be distributed and posted on the course webpage every
Friday. Assignments will consist of daily readings and exercises in
the textbooks. You will be graded on 1) regular preparation, participation
and effort; 2) written exercises and quizzes on morphology, syntax, and vocabulary;
3) three tests.
Written exercises
are due at the beginning of the class period. Exercises submitted on
the due date but after the beginning of class will be receive a grade-deduction
of 5%; exercises submitted on the day after the due date will receive a grade-reduction
of 10%. Exercises will not be accepted after the beginning of the next
class following the due date
There will be nine
quizzes throughout the term, all on Fridays. There will be three tests,
two unit exams during the semester and one comprehensive exam during finals
week. Missed quizzes or tests due to unexcused absences will be scored
as zeroes.
You overall grade
for the course will be calculated according to the following fractions:

Letter grades will
be assigned according to the following scale: A = 90-100; B = 80-89; C =
70-79; D = 60-69; NC = 0-59.
