Culture and Group Processes Lab

The central question I examine in my research concerns how individuals with multiple cultural backgrounds negotiate their identity. Related to this question is the issue of cultural inauthenticity, or the notion that individuals may not be genuine or accurate representatives of their culture. Judgments of the self or others on cultural inauthenticity often rely on the match between outsides (e.g., skin tone, hair texture, facial features) versus insides (cultural knowledge, cultural pride).
