thoughts:
- i have taken up making zines, a hobby which has long eluded me although i did attempt one in 2003. it was about jiggle crue and alex rudolph, mostly, but i dabbled in academic musings, citing geography as my most passionate interest, which turned out to be more prophetic than i could have imagined. i wrote a one page zine, mostly about the ocean and its vagaries. you could write me for one.
- today i went to india palace in roseville with peters truax and valelly. the chana masala was delicious, and i sort of skimped on it the first time around, so i went back to get more. i don't think i've ever encountered a buffet that's not all you can eat, but for some reason i panicked anyway, assuming that i would be charged for two buffets and resigning myself to a $10 5" plate of chana masala. turns out it was not all you can eat, meaning that i actually did have to pay that extra $10, which is absurd, but i was not about to argue. possible insults that could have been hurled at me: you are fat, didn't you see the sign, in minnesota we don't do things like that, it's a shame that you got so little on that second plate.
- once, kelly, marina, and i went to passage to india shortly before they broke down the buffet, and kelly stole about 15 samosas and hid them in her purse, except i think they saw and just didn't do anything about it.
- another time marina and i went to the lunch buffet at passage to india, and i ate so much and felt so drowsy afterwards that i fell asleep on the sidewalk.
- i really miss southern california, especially driving. i find this hard to reconcile with one of the classes i'm taking, which is about cars and the environment. i really like it, but i find chris wells' dulcet tones somewhat at odds with all of his doomsaying.
- yesterday i was walking around outside the campus center and i saw all of the groundskeeper posing for a picture around a riding lawnmower.
