october 8, 2007.
musings and lists, i guess.

after being mocked mercilessly for my lack of coding skills and general inclination towards internet things, i thought i might take it easy with the slow blog, perhaps adopt a more conventional blog format and update once a week, but the lure of self-publishing is far too strong.

today i have little to say. i spent the morning in class, where i pondered ways to improve the census, then went to work, where i read a comparative study of british philosophers' ideas on time travel, then i was going to go to the history department lounge warming party (free books!?) but instead walked around merriam park, venturing to the st. paul antique mall, only to find it closed because it's monday or some shit. there's a house for sale on selby for only $25,000, and it looks alright but the blinds were drawn so it might be a total shithole. i continued back to campus on snelling, ready to get on an 84 bus going south to hit up half price books, but remembered the history party and rushed into the old main elevator (those stairs always kick my ass) and got two books for peter and two books for myself (i am going to dabble in nonsensical irish modernism a la my father, and also sports, always sports). i would encourage anyone to visit third floor old main and check out the bookshelf at the western end of the hallway.

in my starkly similar urban geography and car country classes we've been talking about streetcars and railroads. the other day in one of these classes, i forget which one, an elevator was described as essentially a vertical railroad, something that had never occurred to me but presents many possibilities for fantastical imagination. i hope my blog has become an overnight sensation, and even though there aren't any comments here you could spo me a picture of what you think this might entail.

things i thought about a lot in high school and during my first year of college:
- if everyone in high school took off their pants and someone put them all in a pile in one room, how much of the room would they fill?
- same question, but about cell phones
- who are those guys playing softball on shaw field during class every day and why am i not there with them?
- how many families are there in the world that have four members with the exact same birth dates as my parents, my sister, and me?

songs i listened to today, as videos, for your easy access and enjoyment:
