anyone who knows me certainly knows of my displeasure with the beaches of the midwest. this should come to no surprise to anyone, considering all my whining. unfortunately, i realized that the summer is going to suck if i don't go to the beach, so i had to start going. so far i have been to the beach four times, at two different lakes.
LAKE NOKOMIS
1) i couldn't shake the feeling that something was deeply wrong with the lake bottom, and while i was swimming a strong wind storm swept in from the west and blew sheets of water off the lake. everyone ran out of the lake screaming while sand flew around in giant clouds.
2) the infernal minneapolis park and recreation board has some sort of stupid policy where they make everyone get out of the water at 2:15 and 4:15 for a safety break. insane. some lady told me i looked beautiful in my swimsuit. i thought michael put her up to it, but no. cool.
3) the third time was pretty pleasant. no real complaints.
TWIN LAKE/BARE ASS BEACH
1) i have only been to this spot once but i'll stick with this format anyway. this bare ass beach is not the gay cruising spot on the river. it's a beach at a secluded lake in golden valley. it takes a really really long time to get here. it's really pretty though. you can't tell you're in the city at all really, and the water is really warm. i saw some old people getting all hot and heavy and shit, and some dorks were doing kayak tricks and talking to anyone they could about kayaking. nice beach. would go back, but maybe not on a bike. we ended up riding our bikes like 30 miles or something, but we got pineda afterwards. my jam!
i think today i will go to pineda and lake nokomis again. i'm moving again on friday. suck it, transient life.
