Study Away is an important part of the Macalester College Asian Language and Cultures experience. All students who major in Asian Studies, Japanese Language and Culture, or Chinese Language and Culture are expected to study abroad in Asia.
Japan

China and Taiwan
All up-to-date information is available at macalester.edu/studyaway. Faculty who teach Chinese will gladly discuss the programs with you so that you can find a suitable study away program. Consider applying for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship to spend a summer in Taiwan.
South Asia
Check macalester.edu/studyaway for all up-to-date information. Macalester students interested in South Asia regularly participate in the IFSA program in Pune, India, or the HECUA program in Bangladesh. A good resource for study abroad and summer language study information concerning South Asia is the South Asia Center at University of Wisconsin, Madison.
