Professor Montgomery studies the evolution of animal development, using a comparative approach involving the model organism C. elegans and other nematode species. She has also studied the mechanisms underlying a form of gene silencing called RNA interference (RNAi). Montgomery teaches Genetics, one of the courses in the Department’s core sequence, as well as courses in developmental and stem cell biology. She is also a member of the Health Professions Advisory Committee.
