Over this past summer, I chose to work with a small organization called the Center for Cross Cultural Health. They work with immigrant and refugee communities in the metro area to achieve health equity or an equal opportunity to attain better health outcomes. The organization pays a lot of attention to “authentically listening” to community voices and to power dynamics in associations with community partners. I worked on a two different projects. I was putting together a list of the various organizations in the cities that work with immigrant communities and health, and I helped design a summit to bring community based organizations and health care organizations together to discuss data disaggregation.
