Some evidence exists that suggests that MDMA negatively affects attention and concentration. Research from one study shows MDMA users had significant performance deficits on a continuous attention task requiring mathematical calculation, a task requiring complex attention and incidental learning, a task requiring short term memory and a task of semantic (relating to the meaning of language) recognition and verbal reasoning (Baggott et al. 2001).
According to Baggott et al. (2001), "the differences between ecstasy users and nonusers are clinically very small and could be considered insignificant if we were certain that recovery occurred." The exact extent to which MDMA affects attention and conentration is still unclear.
