Macalester offers admission for students who have completed one or more semesters as a full-time college student following high school graduation. The College will accept no more than the equivalent of two years (sixty-four credit hours) from courses earned at a college or university prior to matriculation at Macalester and subsequent to graduation from high school. APPLICATION CHECKLIST ITEMSCommon Application
Create a Common Application and choose Macalester for your college list.
All Transfer application materials for both admissions and financial aid are due by April 15. If you wish to be considered for financial aid, you must indicate your interest when you apply via the Common Application. Financial Aid.
$40 Application Fee
Submit Macalester Part 1 or the completed Common Application by November 15 and the $40 application fee will be waived. If you apply after the November 15 deadline and are eligible to receive a fee waiver based on financial hardship, indicate so when you complete your Common Application.
Submit scores from either the ACT or the SAT. Self-reported test scores will be accepted in the admissions process. Admitted students who decide to enroll will be required to submit official score reports. Macalester’s testing codes are 2122 (ACT) and 6390 (SAT). Testing Policy
You must have official transcripts of all college-level coursework sent to Macalester directly from the school(s) or via an official online transcript service from all colleges you have attended. A transcript issued to the student is not considered official.
Final High School Transcript
Request that your secondary school send Macalester an official final transcript of your classes and transcript grades beginning with 9th grade. If you attended more than one high school, check to make sure all years are included on the most recent transcript.

We require the Certification of Finances form Finances (COF) and a bank statement from all international applicants, even if they are not applying for financial aid. A completed Certification of Finances form and bank statement can be uploaded to the applicant portal. International Forms
TRANSFER CHECKLIST ITEMS TO BE COMPLETED IN THE COMMON APPLICATION
Mid-Term Report (Currently enrolled students)
Currently enrolled students should print the Mid-Term Report form on Macalester College’s “Recommenders and FERPA” page. Take the form to each instructor with whom you have a spring-term class, and ask the instructor to provide a mid-term progress grade for their class.
Two Recommendations (College Instructor/HS Teacher)
Invite recommenders on the “Recommenders and FERPA” page. Recommendations will be accepted from teachers of core academic subjects (English, social studies, foreign language,mathematics, or science). One report must be from a college instructor; the other may be either a college instructor or high school teacher. If you have been out of college for more than one academic year and have difficulty obtaining an academic report, contact the coordinator for transfer admissions at Macalester to explain your situation.
Print the College Report form on Macalester College’s “Recommenders and FERPA” page and take the form to the Dean of Students or Registrar. Allow the school official ample time to complete the form prior to the application deadline.
