Gilman International Scholarship Program<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are planning to study abroad. The program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go by supporting undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints. Boren Scholarships are funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), which focuses on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be enrolled as undergraduates in a college or university in the United States before and during the time they are studying abroad. The award recipients are selected by Waseda University and students are notified after their arrival in Japan. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jasso.go.jp\/en\/ryugaku\/scholarship_j\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/www.jasso.go.jp\/en\/ryugaku\/scholarship_j\/index.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Monbukagakusho- Japanese Studies<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan. The Japanese Studies scholarship allows U.S. citizens the opportunity to spend a year continuing their study of Japanese language or culture at one of several universities in Japan. This is a highly competitive scholarship for undergraduate students between the ages of 18 and 30 with a strong knowledge of Japanese language. The program sponsors academic year scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country.
