The linguistics courses she has taught include \u201cLanguage and Gender in Japanese Society,\u201d \u201cLanguage and Identity in Japanese, Asian American, and Other Communities,\u201d and \u201cJapanese Sociocultural Linguistics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her research interests include discourse analysis, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and linguistic anthropology. She is currently focusing her scholarly work on issues surrounding language and identity. She has edited <em>Emotive Communication in Japanese<\/em> (John Benjamins) and several special issues of journals, and authored a number of journal articles and book chapters.
