Christopher Lowy received his PhD at the university of Washington in June 2021.  His current research interests include two ongoing projects:  the role of written language in modern and contemporary Japanese literature, and the representation of HIV/AIDS in Japanese literature and culture from the 1980s and 1990s.  He will be teaching first-year Japanese courses and a content course “Japanese Literature since the 2000s.”
