Northeast Neighborhoods Development Corporation

Mission

The North East Neighborhoods Development Corporation was formed to improve economic conditions and the quality of life of the residents that live in its service areas.

History

NENDC started in 1992 and was formed by the District Two Community Council. It specializes in home rehabilitation and small business loans. On average, the NENDC gives out ten loans per year worth $150,000 each, making it one of the smallest firms in the SPCCD. It is run by board of directors which consists of at least eleven, but no more than fifteen, individuals. The directors must be residents of St. Paul Community Council District 1 or District 4 with at least five directors living in District 2. In addition, five of the Board Members must represent the community at-large or the area's financial institutions, businesses, nonprofits or voluntary organizations. A majority must be residents of NENDC's service area and one third must meet federal low-income requirements. In the past NENDC has worked on such projects as the Phalen town homes and the Smile Center Dental Office.
