With Workday, the way transactions are categorized has been reorganized.   <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/business-services\/foapal-to-worktag-mapping-overview\/\">FOAPAL to Worktag Mapping Overview<\/a> shows where elements of the FOAPAL are now with Workday.  At a high level, FOAPAL elements are now: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FUND<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Operating Funds (100000) are represented by Fund FN100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Non-Operating Funds (Grants, Specified Funds for Programs, Projects, Endownment Spending, Gifts) have been divided into their own Worktag (Grants, Projects, Designations, Gift) and associated to a Cost Center (CC####) and additional Worktags may help to further identify the responsible group or budgetary unit.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ORG<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Cost Center (CC####) identifies the area in the College that is the responsible group or budgetary unit.&nbsp;&nbsp;  Some ORGs have been re-categorized as Programs (PG#####) in order to more accurately group the financial activity.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACCOUNT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Spend Category (SC###) OR Revenue Category (RC###) provide the granular details about the nature and circumstances of the transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PROGRAM<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Function FN##,  helps to divide transactions of the College into larger categories for audit needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACTIVITY<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Activities AC#####, continues to provide a method to further categorize a transaction, as defined by the budgetary unit.   Some ACTIVITY CODES have been re-categorized as Programs (PG#####) in order to more accurately group the financial activity.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LOCATION<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Location continues to be used by some groups to identify the campus location of a financial activity.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Understanding Worktag Types<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you convert a FOAPAL using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/business-services\/workdayworktaglookup\/\">Workday \/ Worktag Lookup Tool<\/a>, you&#8217;ll typically receive multiple Worktags. The Worktag you enter in Workday depends on the type of financial activity you&#8217;re completing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table largerText dataTable\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><th>Financial Activity<\/th><th>Worktag to Enter<\/th><\/tr><tr><td>Operating budgets<\/td><td>Cost Center (CC)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Non-operating transactions<\/td><td>Designation (DE), Project Code (PJ), or Gift (GF)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Program<\/td><td>Program (PG)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Grants<\/td><td>Grant (GR)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where You&#8217;ll Use Worktags<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In Workday<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Workday business processes below automatically populate the Worktags associated with your department. If you need to charge a different Banner FOAPAL, first convert that FOAPAL using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/business-services\/workdayworktaglookup\/\">Workday \/ Worktag Lookup Tool<\/a>. Then enter the corresponding Cost Center, Program, Gift, Grant, Designation, or Project Code in Workday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create Supplier Invoice Request\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Request payment of supplier invoices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit a Standard Engagement Contract (SEC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create Expense Report\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reconcile Pcard transactions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request employee reimbursements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create Spend Authorization\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Request a Travel Advance for Macalester-related travel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outside of Workday<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Some processes and forms will continue to be initiated outside of Workday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through September 30, 2026, the Cashiering forms below will continue using Banner FOAPALs.
