Reading and Discussion with Yoko Tawada

Born in 1960 in Tokyo, Yoko Tawada first traveled to Germany in 1979 with the Trans-Siberian Railway and has lived there since 1982. She writes in German and Japanese. Her plays, poems, stories, and novels have won her numerous prestigious awards, including the Goethe Medal, the Kleist Prize, and most recently a National Book Award for Translated Literature. Yoko Tawada will read from her latest novel, Paul Celan und der chinesische Engel, and other works. A discussion will follow with questions by students from Macalester and from RWTH University Aachen.
