Building Coalition to Resist Anti-Semitism as a Force that Divides Us

Students, staff, and faculty are welcome at one or both sessions -- the content will be different at each gathering.  Register here!

Are you curious about what anti-Semitism is and how it gets used to divide liberation-seeking groups from each other?  Want to build toward coalition in allyship with Macalester’s diverse Jewish community?  Trainers from the National Coalition Building Institute have been working with a Macalester cohort for the past year, and are coming to campus for a two-part workshop on anti-Semitism this fall. This means we all have a chance to learn with them!  During community time (11:30 AM-1:00 PM), get an introduction to how anti-Semitism works and start to explore how anti-Jewish oppression is related to and different from other forms of oppression.  In the evening (5:30-8:30 PM), build skills and share stories across different identities toward liberatory coalition.

We will serve boxed lunches and dinners for folks to take to eat after the gathering or during breaks; we will ask folks to keep their masks on in the workshop rooms during the workshop, to protect the health of our visiting facilitators as well as our Macalester community.

Please sign up here by Tuesday, October 18; we will put in the food order before fall break.
