Our Signature Programs
Leveraging our urban location, we take small groups of students to local organizations like 3M, the Minneapolis Star Tribune or Minnesota Public Radio to tour the workplace, meet with alumni, and ask employees about their careers.
Each year, we select approximately 40 students to explore a career field in another city. In each immersive three-day experience, CDC staff and faculty lead students on site visits, connect them to alumni, and give them opportunities to hone their career search skills. Career fields vary from finance to entertainment to government to technology, with recent locations including New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and San Francisco.
Our career counselors work closely with faculty, students, and departments to develop specialized career programming for each academic division. New programs include Humanities First Thursdays career workshops, “careers in” panels, class-focused MacExplore trips, and a professional development series for students doing on-campus summer research.
Our biannual on-campus career fairs feature 50+ diverse employers. New interviewing spaces centrally located in the library make connecting students to opportunities easier than ever.
